New Orleans: Life in an Epic City

Introduced and Edited by Mary Fitzpatrick

Published by the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans

An extraordinary collection of images depicting ordinary life in the city’s 20 nationally designated historic neighborhoods. Ordinary, that is, considering that New Orleans is rich with its own culture and traditions that are most out-of-the-ordinary anywhere else.

The photographs are accompanied by observations from famous and lesser known residents; the book covers the period between September 11, 2001 and Hurricane Katrina, August 29, 2005, capturing the innumerable moments that defined life here in that time.

Proceeds from the sales of this book support the PRC’s programs to restore the historic neighborhoods of New Orleans which were devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

Price: $25.00

New Orleans’ Favorite Shotguns

Mary Fitzpatrick and Alex Lemann

Published by the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans

This publication, in images and commentary, continues to explore the cultural dynamics of the city’s historic neighborhoods, by presenting an experience common to almost all New Orleanians-family, friends, and life centered in a shotgun house. More than 50 narrators share their bonds with the house as children, students, renters, owners and caretakers. This is us. This is how we lived in the past, live today, and – at its best - hope to live in the future.

Proceeds from the sales of this book benefit the PRC’s rebuilding programs, especially important since Hurricane Katrina.
